Greetings, brave adventurers!

We have an electrifying update for you today as we unveil a formidable boss monster in Riveborne: Champions from Beyond. Prepare to face the awe-inspiring power of Blodstadt, The Crimson Whisperer! 

However, before we delve into the details of this fearsome encounter, we have an important announcement regarding the project's delivery.

We want to be transparent and share with you that we will be delaying the delivery of Riveborne: Champions from Beyond. Our utmost priority is to provide you with an exceptional and immersive experience, and as such, we have made the difficult decision to adjust our timeline. We apologize sincerely for any inconvenience caused by this delay. 

We understand that this might be disappointing, but please know that this decision has been made to address the legal issues arising from the name change and to ensure that we can properly rework any existing content. In addition to that, our aim is to provide you with an extraordinary experience, and taking the necessary time to flesh out each and every boss properly is crucial. We want to release something that surpasses your expectations and truly enhances your adventures.

New dates

The delivery of all digital files is now set for Q4 of this year (2023). However, we have some good news to soften the blow. The digital STL files of the minis will be available and released prior to that, around the end of the Q3 mark, allowing you to begin exploring the world of Riveborne sooner. The physical copies of Riveborne are now aimed for delivery in the summer of 2024.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay! Your support and patience mean the world to us, and we are committed to delivering a product that will exceed your expectations. We appreciate your understanding as we work diligently and meticulously to craft the world of Riveborne: Champions from Beyond.

Blodstadt, The Crimson Whisperer

Prepare to face Blodstadt, an extraordinary adversary who combines devastating spells, lethal biting, and claw attacks, making it a formidable challenge for any party of adventurers. With a plethora of elusive spells at its disposal, Blodstadt keeps foes guessing and raises the stakes of the battle.

Standard form 

Witness the unleashed power of Blodstadt as it weaves spells with unparalleled finesse, harnessing the forces of fog, invisibility, illusions, and more to confound and overcome its foes.

Primal form

However, don't be deceived by Blodstadt's appearance in its normal form. With an air of charm, it can lull unsuspecting foes into a false sense of security. But be warned, for those who push the right buttons, Blodstadt's elusive nature can quickly turn deadly.

When Blodstadt enters their Primal Form, a transformation takes place, turning them into a towering, blood-hungry monstrosity. In this state, Blodstadt's attacks deliver a crushing blow with each strike. Amongst its many attacks, it can use its wings, fly up, and, using its sheer brute size, will come down to knock out your party. 

From Legendary Actions to Lair Actions, its repertoire is filled with abilities to escape from your clutches, so it can clutch you instead.

We're thrilled to bring Blodstadt to life in Riveborne: Champions from Beyond. Stay tuned for further updates as we reveal more about this captivating boss and the challenges that await you.

UPDATE #23 - [IMPORTANT] Name Change to Riveborne

Dear Riftborne backers,

We have an important update to share with you regarding our project. After careful consideration and due to legal requirements, we have decided to change our project name from Riftborne to Riveborne. Going forward, all content related to the project will use the Riveborne name.

The name Riveborne is inspired by the word "rive," which means to split apart or cleave. In the context of our project, Riveborne represents the idea of splitting apart the multiverse and exploring the many possibilities that lie within. This new name captures the essence of our project and reflects the exciting journey we're embarking on.

The first part of the name, "Rive," is pronounced as "ryv." The "i" is pronounced as a long "i" sound like in the word "hive," and the "v" is pronounced like the letter "v" in the English alphabet.

We understand that this change may come as a surprise, but we want to assure you that it will not affect the quality of our project. We remain dedicated to delivering the best possible gaming experience and ensuring that our backers are satisfied.

In addition to the name change, we have a new Riveborne logo that we're excited to share with you. We've included an image of the logo in this update, and you'll see it on the book cover and box when you receive your copy.

UPDATE #22 - [IMPORTANT] Riftborne Name Change

Hi, all!

We have important news to share regarding Riftborne RPG. 

Palladium Books have recently contacted us (both by email and physical mail) over their copyright and trademark on the Rifts name. That's right; they have a trademark of "rifts." Whether that'll hold legally or not, an extensive Google search shows that they have a history of dragging things into court, and they've told us that if we do not respond, their attorneys will contact us next. 

Rather than spend precious Kickstarter money fighting over a name and word, we would rather put that dime into getting you all the products you backed in the best quality we can deliver.

• Therefore we've decided to change the Riftborne name and the word "Rift" we use anywhere in Riftborne. 

Riftborne's content will remain the same. What we're changing is the title and word use. However, other content within the Riftborne RPG universe will remain unchanged. 

We're pretty bummed about having to make this change, especially considering we feel it unfair that we'll have to change our entire brand name over literally a word. But feel that this is the best course of action, all things considered.  If you have any suggestions for a new title and/or word we can use, please feel free to share it here in the comments below or on Discord. We'll be actively seeking out a new title and word for the project and hope to set these changes in effect ASAP.

Meanwhile, the development of Riftborne will continue as is!

UPDATE #21 - Raya Asghar Gameplay & Art

Hi, friends!

Witness the prowess of Raya Asghar firsthand as he dominates foe after foe with brilliant swordplay and overpowering ambidexterity. Swift on his feet and fast with his hands, opponents won't comprehend their demise until their beheaded heads roll on the desert soil. 

RAYA ASGHAR - CHAMPION OF THE SANDS 

Here are a few Raya Asghar mechanic highlights (CR8 version):

Inspired by actual cats and expert swordfighters, the following Traits made their appearance:

•  Ambidexterity. Raya Asghar has four arms and Is able to effectively wield a weapon in each hand.
•  Fancy Footwork. Raya Asghar knows how to land a strike and then slip away without reprisal. During its turn, if it makes a melee attack against a creature, that creature cannot make opportunity attacks against Raya Asghar for the rest of its turn. 

His repertoire is filled with Actions, Reactions,and Legendary Actions inspired by the sword:

•  [A] Multiattack. Raya Ashgar can make a Long Sword attack for each sword it is holding. 
•  [R] Riposte. When Raya Asghar is missed by a melee attack, it can use its reaction to make a Long Sword attack against the creature. On a hit Raya Asghar adds d10 to the attack's damage roll.
•  [LA] Dazzling Display. Raya Asghar can perform a bewildering show of prowess with his sword. Every creature within 30 feet who can see its display must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened.

Imagine how much more frightening a Multiattack becomes when Raya's holding a Long Sword in each of his four hands. However, the true challenge arises when he goes into Primal Form through the following means:

•  Humiliating Raya Asghar in martial combat by disarming half of his weapons.
• Combatants do not honor the code of dueling by fighting gimmicky.

Once Primal, he reverts to his innate magic, imbuing his remaining swords with a fierce air element, allowing him to damage his opponents with wind and gust significantly. This unlocks new, Primal Form-exclusive abilities that will no doubt upset the status quo:

•  Cutting Winds. Raya can make a sweeping strike, attacking all creatures within a 10-foot radius of him. Each creature within the area must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, taking 22 (4d10) force damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

We're testing Raya Asghar to the absolute best of our abilities. Meanwhile, we may pick up a select few on Discord in the future to help us elevate Asghar to the next level in terms of balance and enjoyment. Be on the lookout for more of our favorite cat. Purr.

UPDATE #20 - Raya Asghar (Champion of the Sands) + Charge

Hi, adventurers!

IMPORTANT: Your cards will be charged through Backerkit on the 23rd of March (Amsterdam time)! If you've already been charged by Kickstarter before, that is different. What we'll be charging is your locked orders in Backerkit, which includes payment for shipping and tax, and any additional add-ons you added after the KS concluded. 

On another note:

This is the perfect time for musicals, theater shows of any kind, or indie or blockbuster flicks in the cinemas. However, no performance will compare to Raya Asghar taking the stage.

THE CHARMING DUELIST... RAYA ASGHAR!

"His tricks and petty amassed him a vast fortune and swordplay unrivaled by any in the Blue Sands. His insatiable thirst to never be poor again has turned his history into a taboo as he now lives an overly lavish lifestyle with no bounds and no equals—as the Blue Desert champion."

This dazzling champion has more tricks up his sleeves than he has arms, accumulating style points as he fulfills combat tricks. With each success, he becomes harder to stop! Performing for an audience as he slays his foes, not many are safe from his longsword—let alone four of them. However, a humiliated Primal Raya will forego any of his sword tricks and confront you with claw, might, and magic—his teeth but inches from sinking into your skin.

It's about time to flesh out Raya Asghar with a beautifully rendered illustration for the book! Each champion's entry page will feature a short narrative description on the side, with the majority of the page showcasing the illustration.  It's time to pick a direction for Raya's illustration!
